challenge

The BBC World Service Russian-language service needed to reach Russian-speaking audiences with clear, trustworthy information during the war, and encourage people to sign up to a secure newsletter at a time when access to reliable news was increasingly restricted.

strategy

We focused on calm, factual messaging supported by clear, human-centred visuals. The motion approach was designed to build trust, reduce fear, and communicate the value of staying informed without sensationalism or political rhetoric.

solution

We created a short motion graphic explaining the purpose and benefits of the BBC Russian-language newsletter. The animation guided viewers through the sign-up process using clear visual cues and a paper cut out visual style, optimised for digital and social platforms.

impact

The motion graphic supported increased awareness and newsletter sign-ups, helping Russian-speaking audiences access reliable information and stay connected to trusted reporting during a critical period.
